About the role
About The Role
We’re hiring a creative, entrepreneurial brand strategist and marketer to help us develop and sell Shopify-branded products that our merchants and developers actually want to buy, wear and share. Shopify Supply is our demo store and also our brand of limited edition products for entrepreneurs and partners. When it’s done right, it doesn’t feel like swag — it feels like a lifestyle brand for the greater commerce community.
This contract role will own the strategy and execution behind Shopify Supply’s merchandising for 2-3 product drops, largely focused on apparel and soft goods. You’ll lead product creation from the first idea to the final shipment, while also building the foundations/capacity for trendjacking and running Supply with commercial rigor (pricing, margins, inventory risk). You’re someone who is “eternally online” which enables you to capitalize on cultural moments in a way that’s timely and on-brand, and also to stay in close contact with the community that you’re building for.
This is a 9-month contract with the option to extend. During the first 9 months, you’ll be responsible for launching 2-3 product drops. This includes:
- Plan and execute drops end-to-end: build the drop calendar for the second half of 2026, write product/launch briefs, and drive cross-functional readiness from concept to launch.
- Create products with taste and craft: lead decisions on materials, construction, fit, trims, graphics/printing, packaging, and overall quality (primarily soft goods).
- Lead go-to-market strategy: Shape how each drop earns attention and sells out. Who it's for, how it launches, and why it'll be talked about online.
- Connect with our community: keep tabs on merchant conversations on Social so you can craft products that will resonate. This includes spotting trends or moments that present opportunities for reactive content or drops.
- Own sourcing and vendor strategy: identify and manage suppliers/manufacturers, negotiate costs/MOQs/lead times, and establish quality standards and QA mechanisms.
- Run the business (P&L mindset): set pricing and margin strategy for your drops, manage budget, forecast demand, and make disciplined tradeoffs across quality, speed, and cost. The goal is never to make a profit; it’s to use resources responsibly.
- Partner across Brand + Design + Ops: collaborate closely with creative, social, comms, legal, finance, and fulfillment to ensure launches are on brand, compliant, and shippable.
- Measure what matters: track brand performance (e.g. orders, customer count and earned Social buzz) and iterate the strategy based on learnings.
What We’re Looking For
- Entrepreneurship experience: experience equivalent to running a retail store or online business (assortment, sourcing, pricing, managing inventory, launching new products).
- Merchandising leadership + strong taste: you can build an assortment that feels coherent, elevated, and culturally relevant to our audience.
- Sourcing and production fluency: comfortable with factories/vendors, costing, sampling, timelines, MOQs, and quality control.
- Commercial rigor: budget conscious, numerate, and able to make clear calls using margin, demand signals, and operational constraints.
- Cultural instinct (and restraint): “eternally online,” with a high bar for brand fit.
- Cross-functional strength: can lead through influence across creative, social, finance, legal, and fulfillment partners.

About You
Moving at our pace brings a lot of change, complexity, and ambiguity—and a little bit of chaos. Shopifolk thrive on that and are comfortable being uncomfortable. That means Shopify is not the right place for everyone.
Before you apply, consider if you can:
- Care deeply about what you do and about making commerce better for everyone.
- Excel by seeking professional and personal hypergrowth.
- Keep up with an unrelenting pace (the week, not the quarter).
- Be resilient and resourceful in face of ambiguity and thrive on (rather than endure) change.
- Bring critical thought and opinion.
- Put AI agents and tools to work on the tasks they're built for, and focus on the work only humans can do.
- Embrace differences and disagreement to get shit done and move forward.
- Work digital-first for your daily work.
