About the role
Principal Software Quality Engineer
Raytheon is seeking a Principal Software Quality Engineer to join their team in Woburn, MA. This onsite role involves ensuring the verification and validation of Raytheon's digital products, including embedded code, simulations, and firmware. You will work as an individual contributor within the Air & Space Defense Systems (ASDS) Strategic Business Unit (SBU), collaborating with cross-functional organizations. What You Will Do:- Program Execution Support: Participate in all phases of systems/digital product design and development, ensuring compliance with product/process requirements. Review and approve inputs/outputs for software, systems, system integration, and testing work products.
- Product Continuous Improvement: Conduct independent evaluations and risk assessments throughout the digital product development lifecycle. Drive improvements by assessing process/product measures to foster a continuous improvement and data-driven culture.
- Product Integrity: Ensure the integrity of digital products and the Technical Data Package. Monitor and participate in the test and release of work products, measuring and analyzing key software attributes.
- Teamwork: Provide guidance to project staff and senior department staff. Lead successful completion of program quality assessments and potentially act in a software quality leadership role. Interact with senior product development and test personnel and possess extensive knowledge of emerging software development and quality paradigms.
- Process Improvement: Enhance and deploy Quality Engineering processes. Lead project activities to improve key processes, facilitate root cause analysis, and corrective action planning. Partner with stakeholders to improve product quality and process effectiveness.
- Knowledge and Tools: Apply practical experience with Agile or DevOps software development, with a focus on software testing, continuous integration, and continuous monitoring for product quality improvements in areas like code analysis, root cause corrective action, information assurance, and development methodologies.
- A degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
- Experience with technical principles in the software development process.
- Experience with software/firmware development processes and conducting quality assessments of software products and artifacts.
- Previous experience with Agile or DevOps software development.
- Experience in software testing, continuous integration, and/or continuous monitoring.
- Ability to obtain an INTERIM U.S. government-issued security clearance prior to the start date.
- U.S. citizenship is required to be eligible for a security clearance.
- Project and workload management skills.
- Technical leadership of small teams.
- Ability to define and review quality requirements for program bids and proposals.
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to serve as an organizational spokesperson and advise management, customers, and team members on Software Quality concepts.
- Working knowledge of Earned Value, ISO9000/AS9100, and IPDS.
- Experience using CORE/Six Sigma practices and methodologies.
- Practical experience with Guidance, Navigation, Signal Processing, Radar, and Discrimination systems and associated algorithms.
