About the role

Biomedical Scientist in Haematology & Blood Transfusion

Band 6

Location: Staffordshire

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: Ongoing

Working Pattern: Monday - Friday, 09:00 - 17:00

Hourly Rate: £22 - £24 PAYE via DE

We are currently seeking a Band 6 Biomedical Scientist specialising in Haematology & Blood Transfusion to join our client’s team in Staffordshire. This is a full-time, ongoing position working core hours only, offering a competitive hourly rate and the opportunity to contribute to a busy and well-established laboratory service.

Key Responsibilities

You will perform full blood counts, coagulation studies, and blood film morphology. You will ensure accurate analysis, maintain quality control, and collaborate with clinical teams. You will carry out blood grouping, antibody screening, compatibility testing, and issue blood components for transfusion. You will ensure safe transfusion practices and regulatory compliance

Qualifications and Experience

- HCPC registration

- Degree in Biomedical Science or equivalent

- Experience in Haematology & Blood Transfusion within a clinical laboratory

- Need to be fully conversant in Haematology and Blood transfusion with experience of morphology

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities

- NHS experience (preferred), but previous clinical lab experience within Haematology & Blood Transfusion in the UK (Essential)
