About the role

Job Title: Adult Speech & Language Therapist – Communication & Dysphagia

Banding: Band 6 or Band 7 (depending on experience)

Department: Adult SLT Team 

Location: Community‑based across Cambridgeshire

Possible Bases: Peterborough, Huntingdon, Cambridge, Wisbech, Doddington or Ely

Contract Type: Locum

Start Date: ASAP

Working Pattern: Monday–Friday, full‑time or part‑time

Job Overview

Pulse is now recruiting Band 6 or Band 7 Adult Speech & Language Therapists to support the Adult SLT Team within OPAC across Cambridgeshire. This role is focused on reducing waiting lists and providing timely assessment and intervention for adults with a wide range of acquired communication and swallowing difficulties.

You will work across multiple community settings, delivering high‑quality, face‑to‑face clinical care to patients with complex and varied presentations. This is an excellent opportunity for clinicians confident working independently and managing diverse caseloads.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess and treat adults with communication, swallowing, and voice disorders
  • Manage caseloads including: – Progressive neurological conditions – Stroke – Traumatic brain injury – Dementia – Respiratory conditions – Voice disorders – Dysphagia of unknown aetiology
  • Provide intervention across clinics, care homes, community hospitals, and patients’ own homes
  • Contribute to MDT working and care planning
  • Delegate appropriate tasks to clinical assistants or newly qualified therapists
  • Maintain accurate, timely clinical documentation

Requirements

  • HCPC‑registered Speech & Language Therapist
  • Experience working with adults with acquired communication and swallowing difficulties
  • Confident managing dysphagia caseloads at Band 6 or Band 7 level
  • Ability to travel across community locations (no remote working available)
  • Strong clinical reasoning and communication skills

Hours & Availability

  • Full‑time or part‑time considered
  • Monday–Friday
