Banding: Band 6/7
Location: West Midlands
Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £24.00–£27.67 per hour

Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist (SALT) to join a dynamic inpatient team in the West Midlands. This role involves working within an acute hospital setting, supporting adult patients with a range of complex communication and swallowing needs.

The successful candidate will manage a varied caseload, including general acute patients and those with acute stroke, delivering high-quality assessment and intervention. This is an on-site role (no remote working), ideal for a confident and independent practitioner with strong dysphagia experience.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:
• Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders in an acute inpatient setting.
• Independently assess and treat dysphagia, ensuring safe and effective management plans are in place.
• Manage a mixed caseload including general acute and stroke patients.
• Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team, contributing to patient care plans and discharge planning.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date clinical records in line with professional and organisational standards.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:
• A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).
• HCPC registration and membership (or eligibility) with the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
• Proven experience working within an adult acute setting.
• Strong, independent dysphagia management skills.
• Experience managing a general acute caseload, ideally including acute stroke patients.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
