Banding: Band 6 / 7
Location: South Yorkshire
Start Date: ASAP
Rate: £25.00 – £32.00 per hour
Working Hours: Part-time/Full-Time


Job Overview

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated Adult Acute Speech and Language Therapist to provide a highly specialist service within an acute hospital setting in South Yorkshire. This role focuses on supporting adults presenting with a wide range of communication and swallowing difficulties, including dysphagia.

You will play a vital role within the multidisciplinary team, delivering expert assessment, diagnosis, and management for patients with complex needs. This opportunity is well suited to a Band 6 or Band 7 clinician who is confident working independently in an acute environment and passionate about delivering high-quality, patient-centred care.


Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Provide a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapy service to adults with communication and swallowing difficulties, including dysphagia.

  • Undertake comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, and treatment planning for patients within an acute hospital setting.

  • Offer specialist clinical advice and support to the wider multidisciplinary team.

  • Manage and prioritise a complex clinical caseload independently.

  • Maintain accurate, timely, and professional clinical documentation in line with service and professional standards.

  • Contribute to service development, audits, and quality improvement initiatives where appropriate.


Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A recognised degree in Speech and Language Therapy (or equivalent).

  • HCPC registration and eligibility for membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).

  • Proven experience working with adults with dysphagia and communication disorders in an acute or hospital setting.

  • Strong clinical reasoning, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
