As a part-time, non-exempt, Optum/CPS Solutions Staff Pharmacist, you will fill orders with accuracy; check technician-prepared products before release; maintain the security of pharmacy and controlled substances; enter orders and patient information with accuracy; aid in the training of new staff; update the Director about the daily activities of the pharmacy; and aid the Director in maintaining the pharmacy.
About the Facility
Operated by Universal Health Services, Millwood Hospital is a 134-bed licensed facility that provides mental health and chemical dependency care to people of all ages. The facility also contains The Excel Center, a short-term, outpatient treatment alternative for adults 18 and over. Optum has partnered with the hospital to manage the day-to-day operations of this pharmacy. This position is an employee of Optum.
Schedule
One weekend a month and coverage of PTO as needed.
About the Pharmacy
The Pharmacy is open Monday-Friday 7:00 am - 3:00 pm; Weekends & Holidays 7:30 am - 12:30 pm.
Primary Responsibilities
- Review, verify, and dispense medication orders to ensure appropriateness, safety, and accuracy
- Provide clinical pharmacy services, including medication therapy management and pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams to optimize medication regimens for hospitalized patients
- Oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding activities, ensuring compliance with USP and hospital standards
- Monitor patient outcomes and medication safety, identifying and preventing adverse drug events
- Supervise and support pharmacy technicians and interns, ensuring efficient and compliant workflow
- Ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance, including Joint Commission, state, and federal requirements

Required Qualifications
- Pharmacy degree (BS or PharmD) from an ACPE accredited school of pharmacy (PharmD preferred)
- Current Pharmacist license in good standing in Texas
- Experience using computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and pharmacy information systems
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, set priorities, make critical decisions, and respond to client concerns
- Demonstrated accuracy and timeliness in a work setting

- Experience as a Pharmacist in a Hospital setting
- Experience in Behavioral Health
