About the role
Cloud Solutions Architect
MathWorks is seeking a Cloud Solutions Architect to be the primary technical point of contact for onboarding commercial and enterprise customers to our Private Cloud offerings. This role involves leading technical discovery, translating customer requirements into secure and scalable solutions, and guiding customers through a successful onboarding and go-live process. You will collaborate closely with product, platform, operations, and security teams to ensure a seamless customer experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Own the entire technical onboarding journey for Private Cloud customers, from initial discovery through implementation readiness and final go-live.
- Lead technical discovery workshops to thoroughly understand customer requirements, including identity management, security protocols, networking configurations, integration needs, compliance mandates, and operational constraints.
- Develop and present comprehensive end-to-end solution designs, utilizing diagrams and written documentation to clarify complex systems for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Partner with MATLAB and Simulink Application Engineers (AEs) to ensure application-level onboarding aligns with the defined target architecture and customer success criteria.
- Collaborate with product management, engineering, security, and operations teams to resolve onboarding blockers, enhance process repeatability, and provide input on roadmap priorities.
- Contribute to scaling Private Cloud adoption by creating reusable onboarding patterns, reference architectures, and comprehensive playbooks.
- Apply sound architectural judgment to advise customers on design trade-offs and influence internal standards and roadmap decisions based on practical customer needs and market insights.
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree and 10 years of professional work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Microsoft Azure.
Additional Qualifications
- Proven experience in cloud architecture and managing enterprise systems on platforms like AWS, Azure, or comparable cloud environments.
- Deep understanding of enterprise security and identity concepts (e.g., SSO, IAM, authentication/authorization patterns), alongside fundamental knowledge of networking and system integration.
- Demonstrated success in a customer-facing technical role (e.g., Solutions Architect, Technical Program Manager, Implementation Architect, Customer Engineer) leading complex onboarding or adoption projects.
- Ability to effectively translate business objectives and technical requirements into practical designs and implementation plans, clearly articulating design trade-offs.
- Strong cross-team collaboration skills and adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience with private cloud or isolated environments, handling regulated workloads, or managing compliance-driven deployments.
- Familiarity with Kubernetes ecosystems, infrastructure as code (IaC), observability/monitoring tools, and operational readiness best practices.
- A background in platform engineering, developer platforms, CI/CD pipelines, or supporting technical computing/engineering workflows is a plus.
