Housekeeping Operations Manager
The Housekeeping Operations Manager at Marriott International is responsible for supporting the successful execution of all operations within the hotel's operations departments, including Front Office, Business Center, Recreation/Health Club, Housekeeping, Food and Beverage/Culinary, and Engineering/Maintenance, while managing staff. The role focuses on continually improving guest and employee satisfaction, maximizing the financial performance of the department, and ensuring adherence to standards and procedures. You will lead a specific team while assisting in meeting or exceeding property goals.
Candidate Profile
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED; 4 years of experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or a related professional area.
- OR 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major; 2 years of experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or a related professional area.
Core Work Activities
Supporting Operations Team:
- Translate goals related to guest tracking and productivity to the team.
- Understand employee and guest satisfaction results and communicate plans to address needs and build on strengths.
- Ensure the team has the capabilities to meet expectations.
- Lead by example with self-confidence, energy, and enthusiasm.
- Assist employees in understanding and exceeding guests’ ever-changing needs and expectations.
Supporting Property Operations Function(s):
- Follow property-specific second effort and recovery plans.
- Publish all guest satisfaction results promptly, including feedback forms, comment cards, and guest letters.
- Take proactive approaches to employee concerns.
- Maintain professionalism and courtesy with employees at all times.
- Communicate and update employees on all goals and results.
- Conduct one-on-one meetings with staff semiannually.
- Assist and teach the team in scheduling against guest and hours/occupied room goals.
- Perform hourly job functions as needed.
Managing and Monitoring Activities that Affect the Guest Experience:
- Provide excellent customer service by being readily available and approachable to all guests.
- Take proactive approaches when dealing with guest concerns.
- Maintain professionalism and courtesy with guests at all times.
- Respond promptly to customer service department requests.
- Ensure all team members meet or exceed all hospitality requirements.
Assisting in Managing Profitability:
- Assist in performing required annual Quality audits with the General Manager & District Representative.
- Ensure a viable key control program is in place.
- Understand financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data.
Conducting Human Resources Activities:
- Interview and assist in making hiring decisions.
- Receive hiring recommendations from team supervisors.
- Ensure orientations for new team members are thorough and completed in a timely fashion.
