About the role
About Mariana Minerals
Mariana Minerals is a software-first, vertically integrated minerals company on a mission to supply the critical minerals powering modern energy, AI, and defense technologies. We’re reimagining the minerals supply chain by combining deep industry expertise with advanced software, automation, and data-driven decision-making.
Role Overview
Mariana Minerals is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Electrical Engineer to support the design and implementation of power systems that enable the build-out of critical mineral infrastructure vital to the global energy transition.
In this role, you will lead and contribute to the development of high, medium, and low voltage electrical distribution systems for first-of-its-kind chemical refining processes. Your work will span the full project lifecycle—from conceptual studies to detailed design, construction, commissioning, and energization. You will also be responsible for system modeling and analysis, ensuring that power systems are robust, reliable, and compliant with applicable standards.
What You’ll Do
Design and develop power distribution systems across high, medium , and low voltage networks for industrial infrastructure projects.
Produce and review single-line diagrams (SLDs), panel schedules, wiring diagrams, grounding plans, conduit/cable schedules, and equipment specifications.
Perform power system studies including:
- Load flow and voltage drop analysis
- Short circuit analysis
- Arc flash hazard assessment
- Protective device coordination
Select and specify electrical equipment such as transformers, switchgear, motor control centers (MCCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and UPS systems.
Design and implement protection and relaying schemes, including relay settings and coordination for system reliability.
Interface with utility providers, coordinate interconnections, and support applications and grid compliance efforts.
Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (mechanical, civil, process), vendors, and contractors to support system integration and field implementation.
Support construction, commissioning, and energization with field engineering support, RFI resolution, and as-built documentation.
What You’ll Bring
5-10+ years experience with electrical engineering and design. Including but not limited to:
- Brownfield equipment modifications and upgrades
- Greenfield equipment design
Deep knowledge of power system engineering, with hands-on experience in the design and analysis of HV, MV, and LV electrical systems in industrial settings.
Experience with electrical system modeling tools such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or EasyPower.
Familiarity with relevant electrical codes and standards, including NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, and ANSI/IEC standards.
Proven ability to deliver detailed electrical engineering packages, including design calculations, technical drawings, and equipment specifications.
Experience with the following industries and/or production environments:
- Industrial manufacturing
- Large-scale mining or mineral processing
- Large-scale chemical production processes
- Engineering, procurement, and construction firms
