The Project
Mace, as part of MPA delivery partner joint venture of Mace-Parsons-Arcadis, have been selected as the Gateway Development Commissions partners of choice to support the GDC across the Gateway Program in New York, inclusive of the Hudson Tunnel Project.
The busiest rail connection between New York, New Jersey, and the Northeast Corridor, the Hudson Tunnel Project will improve capacity, reliability, and resiliency of commuter and intercity rail transit serving 800,000 daily passengers from Washington, D.C. to New York and New England. A milestone project supported by the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), the project is slated to receive nearly $12 billion in federal funding, the largest investment in a mass transit project in modern history.

You’ll Be Responsible For
- Support and coordinate the management of force account construction activities to ensure alignment with project scope, schedule, and operational requirements within active railroad environments.
- Support daily oversight of force account work, including labor, equipment, materials, and productivity tracking, including coordination of track access, outages, and work windows with railroad operations and dispatch.
- Collaborate with internal project teams, construction managers, railroad operations, dispatch, and third-party stakeholders to support the integration of force account activities into the overall project delivery plan.
- Facilitate communication between field forces, railroad personnel, and project leadership to resolve issues and maintain progress in a live operating environment.
- Assist in monitoring budgets, scope, and schedules associated with force account construction.
- Track progress against approved plans and identify potential risks or variances for escalation, including impacts to railroad operations, outage availability, and force account resource constraints.
- Support the change control process by assisting with evaluation, documentation, and tracking of change requests.
- Help assess schedule, cost, and operational impacts related to changes in scope or execution, including impacts to track access, service interruptions, and coordination with railroad stakeholders.
- Support coordination of signal, communications, traction power, and related railroad systems within force account activities.
- Interface with railroad departments (signals, track, power, communications) to support integrated project delivery.
- Support system integration, testing, and commissioning activities in coordination with force account and project teams.
You’ll Need To Have
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 8–12 years of experience in railroad or heavy civil construction.
- Experience supporting force account construction; Amtrak or similar rail system experience preferred.
- Knowledge of construction management, budgeting, scheduling, and change control processes.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with project management and reporting tools.
- Experience working in active railroad or transit environments with direct coordination of operations, dispatch, and/or force account crews.
- Knowledge of FRA regulations, roadway worker protection (RWP), and railroad operating rules preferred.
- Experience with track outages, possession planning, or work window coordination strongly preferred.
Note: The estimated starting salary for this position is $200k. Starting salary may vary based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, skills and qualifications.
