Overview

The Sr Database Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, support, and maintenance of critical database systems for healthcare operations at Guthrie Clinic. This role ensures high availability and performance for database systems, collaborating with IT teams, vendors, and hospital stakeholders to meet operational and regulatory requirements.

Experience & Expertise

Candidates should have 5 to 7 years of enterprise database management experience, preferably in healthcare. Key technical areas include:

• Expertise with Microsoft SQL, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL
• Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL and automation scripting
• Experience with Epic IRIS, Hyperspace Web, and Web Blob
• Data modeling, schema design, backup and recovery
• Strong knowledge of database security, ITSM functionalities, and high availability in 24/7 environments

Essential Functions

The role involves leading advanced database architecture design, monitoring performance and security, problem resolution, and maintaining documentation. The candidate must be able to communicate complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical staff.

Education & Certifications

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Healthcare Administration or a related field is strongly desired along with certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator, Oracle Certified Master, and Epic Operational Database Administrator.
