Position Summary
JMT seeks a career-minded Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our fast-growing practice. You will plan and lead engineering tasks and projects using your knowledge of design criteria, regulatory requirements, and standards. Responsibilities include managing multiple design projects, developing project schedules and cost estimates, analyzing critical design elements, and coordinating design teams. You'll work on exciting water distribution, sewershed study and rehabilitation, new sewer design, water/wastewater treatment, and pump station projects. Our Colorado team supports both local and national projects, and we expect you to provide quality engineering services efficiently to ensure customer satisfaction.

Compensation
$45-65/hour, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Design responsibilities and project management.
- Collaborate with a design team to develop construction plans and specifications.
- Perform design computations and ensure projects comply with client specifications.
- Develop construction cost estimates and scopes of work.
- Conduct conceptual designs, preliminary engineering studies, and field investigation programs.
- Manage subcontractors and coordinate design disciplines.
- Provide construction phase engineering services.
- Support time-critical design development to meet demanding schedules.
- Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, agencies, and firm staff.
- Participate in business development activities, including proposal writing and project interviews.
Required Skills
- Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, high-production office environment.
- Proven ability to build successful team relationships and maintain positive coworker interactions.
- Familiarity with hydraulic designs, water and sewer design, constructability analysis, sewer rehabilitation, engineering economics, specification preparation, and engineering report writing.
- Organized with excellent written and verbal communication skills; flexibility to meet demanding schedules.
- Firm grasp of general heavy construction principles.
- Strong computer skills: MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, ArcGIS, and MS Project is a plus.
Required Experience
- 4-10 Years’ Experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Working knowledge of Federal, State, and local jurisdiction permitting regulations.
Qualifications Preferred
- Professional Engineering License in Colorado or ability to obtain within six months.
- Passing grade on the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering exam.
- Experience working with local clients.
Working Conditions
Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary but may require occasional standing and walking. Field work may be required occasionally in various outdoor conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required.
