About the role
Senior Electronics Engineer
Department: Engineering
Location: Warsaw, Poland
Reports to: Engineering Lead, AOCS Hardware
Employment type: Permanent
Workplace model: Office
Employment is subject to applicable security screening (incl. SUPO)
The Mission of the Senior Electronics Engineer
You ensure that our AOCS system delivers reliable and consistent performance through innovative power electronics design and precision control systems. Beyond this, you will also have the opportunity to design other high-speed, high-power, and high-reliability electronics supporting ICEYE's growing constellation of diverse spacecraft.
This role is within the Attitude and Orbit Control domain where we are responsible for developing and maintaining the power electronics and control systems that enable our AOCS capabilities.
Your job will be to work closely with production teams, operations teams, and software teams to ensure smooth and performant operation of our propulsion systems in development and deployed environments. Expect to be involved in the complete lifecycle of the system - from design phases of next-generation propulsion architectures to maintenance and optimization of existing systems we and our customers operate.
We move fast. At ICEYE, you are expected to understand the whole system - not just your slice of it - and to iterate quickly. Designs you work on today can be launching to orbit within months, not years. This is an environment where your decisions carry real weight and your work becomes tangible faster than almost anywhere else in the industry.
You will have a direct impact on mission success as the performance and reliability of our AOCS electronics directly affect the operational capabilities we deliver to our customers and the overall performance of our fleet.
Who We Are
ICEYE is the world leader in sovereign intelligence from space. We deliver persistent monitoring capabilities to detect and respond to changes in any location on Earth.
ICEYE owns the world's largest and most advanced SAR (synthetic aperture radar) satellite constellation. To our customers we provide intelligence with unmatched quality, latency and revisit times, in any weather, day or night. To governments who choose to operate their own constellation we provide this proven capability as a sovereign system.
ICEYE-built constellations serve customers in defence and intelligence, environmental monitoring, insurance and emergency management. We enable fast decisions that contribute to a safer future.
Founded and headquartered in Finland, ICEYE operates globally with over 1000 employees across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific.
Your day-to-day responsibilities:
Own the full design lifecycle of flight hardware - from first schematics and component selection through bring-up, functional and environmental testing, launch, and on-orbit operations - creating a tight learning and improvement loop at every stage
Develop a deep understanding of the complete AOCS system, including the interplay between power electronics, control systems, and the spacecraft subsystems they drive
Lead the design of power electronics and control electronics for AOCS hardware, including power conversion, distribution, and precision control circuits
Design and optimize power electronics for efficiency, thermal management, and performance across all operational environments
Develop precision analog and data acquisition circuits for power measurement, voltage/current monitoring, signal conditioning, and feedback control
Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the full lifecycle - design, prototyping, manufacturing, field operation, and on-orbit anomalies
Work closely with firmware engineers, FPGA engineers, software developers, and mechanical and thermal engineers to ensure seamless integration
Mentor junior engineers to continuously raise the bar on design and testing practices
What we’re looking for:
Must haves:
MSc in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field with 5+ years of professional experience in high-voltage electronics
Proven expertise in high-voltage electronics (250V+) design, high-voltage topologies, switching architectures, power management, and low-noise power supply design
Advanced analog circuit design: precision measurement, sensor interface and signal conditioning, low-noise amplifier design, and transimpedance circuits
Advanced proficiency with circuit simulation and PCB design tools like, LTSpice and Altium.
Understanding of high-speed signal design: signal integrity, timing analysis, and EMI/EMC principles for noise mitigation in high-voltage switching environments
Experience designing embedded control hardware for power electronics: microcontroller interfaces (ADC, PWM, GPIO), protection circuits (overcurrent/overvoltage detection), fault handling, and safe-state transitions
Experience designing serial communication hardware (RS485, UART) with proper isolation, impedance matching, and protection
Ability to work closely with firmware engineers to define hardware interfaces, protection circuits, telemetry acquisition and develop joint verification test cases
Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
Nice to haves:
Hands-on experience with environmental testing (vibration, thermal, radiation, vacuum) and harsh operating conditions
Fundamental understanding of control systems, feedback loops, and closed-loop circuit design
Experience designing solenoid valve driver circuits for high-current on/off switching, including flyback protection and inductive load management
Experience with wide-bandgap semiconductor technologies (GaN, SiC MOSFETs)
Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and cost optimization
Proficiency in programming languages (C, Python) for firmware integration or hardware characterization
