About the Role
The Medical Assistant at Healthcare Outcomes Performance Co. (HOPCo) plays a crucial role in facilitating communication between patients and providers, ensuring efficient clinic operations, and maintaining a positive patient experience. This full-time position involves a range of clinical and administrative duties, contributing to the high-quality care provided at The CORE Institute.Responsibilities
- Room patients, obtain and document vital signs, and review intake paperwork.
- Pull up radiology images, assist with procedure setup, and prepare for injections.
- Perform accurate data entry into the EMR system and manage provider desktops.
- Assist providers in completing patient prescriptions and medical forms.
- Retrieve and respond to voicemails within 24 business hours, documenting actions in EMR.
- Prepare patient electronic charts for clinic visits, verifying outstanding results and confirming appropriateness.
- Scan clinical documents into EMR and print clinic schedules.
- Ensure patients receive necessary education as indicated by the provider.
- Maintain a HIPAA-compliant environment and a clean workspace.
- Contribute to Company initiatives such as PROs and Quality Payment Programs.
- Maintain exam room standards, including restocking and cleaning.
Qualifications
- High school diploma/GED required.
- Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant training program.
- Certification or additional training must meet meaningful use requirements.
- 1-2 years of experience in orthopedics, spine surgery, or pain management preferred.
- Alternatively, must have graduated from a formal training program within the last 12-18 months with a CMA certificate, or be grandfathered in per state regulation.
- Experience with office medical procedures, treatments, insurance, managed care operations, EMR, and scheduling software.
- Two years of experience in an outpatient physical therapy clinic is preferred.
- Experience with orthopedics is preferred.
