About the role
Data Analyst
Fisher Industries is seeking a Data Analyst to support Business Transformation initiatives and internal stakeholders by converting operational and financial data into actionable insights. As Fisher Industries transforms their operations across aggregate production and heavy civil construction, this role will help shape a developing data stack built for innovation, simplicity, and efficiency. The position is ideal for an early to mid-career professional with a strong growth mindset. Our technology stack is evolving rapidly; we are looking for individuals excited to help shape the future architecture rather than inherit a fully defined environment.
Qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S. without employer sponsorship now or in the future.
Primary Duties
- Partner with Business Transformation and functional leaders (operations, finance, HR, safety, marketing, project management, etc.) to understand questions and translate them into data requirements and reports.
- Build, maintain, and improve Power BI reports and dashboards that surface KPIs for projects, plants, and business units (safety, production, margins, utilization, etc.).
- Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, join, and transform data from ERP systems and other data platforms as integrations mature.
- Develop and maintain data models, semantic layers, and reusable datasets to reduce report sprawl and standardize definitions across the business.
- Perform ad-hoc analysis to support project bids, cost investigations, process improvement initiatives, and leadership requests.
- Document data sources, metric definitions, and report logic in clear, business-friendly language.
- Help define and implement data quality checks, reconciliation routines, and simple monitoring for data pipelines in collaboration with IT or vendors.
- Educate and support stakeholders on how to use dashboards, interpret metrics, and self-serve where appropriate.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Business, Information Systems, Finance, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2-5+ years of experience in a data analyst or similar role
- Experience with Power BI: data modeling, DAX, measures, calculated columns, basic row-level security, and dashboard design.
- Strong proficiency in SQL for querying and manipulating data
- Microsoft 365: strong Excel (Power Query, PivotTables, lookups), OneDrive/SharePoint, Teams, and PowerPoint for executive-ready presentations.
- Data modeling concepts: fact/dimension design, star schemas, basic normalization/denormalization.
- Basic ETL/ELT concepts: understanding data refresh schedules, incremental loads, and source-to-target mappings (hands-on with tools is a plus but not required).
- Familiarity (or willingness to learn) construction and heavy civil data structures: jobs, cost codes, phases, equipment, labor, materials.
- Power Automate for light workflow automation, Python or R for advanced analytics, experience with cloud data platforms (e.g., Azure SQL, Synapse, Snowflake).
