Department: Business Intelligence

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time

Work Model: Hybrid (2 days in office)

Language: English required, French an asset.

Additional Information: This position is currently vacant within the Client Analytics Modernization team.

The Opportunity:

We are a leading Canadian financial services cooperative committed to actively fostering a sustainable and resilient society, and our team is essential to the success of this strategy. That's why our people are our priority. We offer a vibrant company culture and development opportunities that allow our team to reach their full potential and fulfill our purpose. And the best part: you'll work with people who genuinely care about you, our clients, and our communities.

Cutting-edge science and analytics are at the core of our Business Intelligence team's decisions. We promote a scientific culture through our passion for continuous learning, diversity, and innovation. We strive to present a single version of truth by providing business partners with comprehensive data and valuable insights to help our organization achieve operational excellence.

As a Senior Data Integration Specialist, you will lead various initiatives by designing data solutions for analytics, while supporting the team through coaching using advanced insurance data and programming tools. You will be responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining advanced analytical solutions within the organization's Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to generate measurable business value, and you will effectively communicate this value to a business audience.

How You Create Impact:

  • Improve the pipeline in collaboration with the delivery team, while integrating reconciliation processes across different assets in this sector.
  • Lead various initiatives by developing machine learning (ML) model pipeline solutions from conceptual and business requirements, and supporting production analytical solutions for analysis.
  • Define and promote design principles based on the best analytical solutions, considering scalability, automation, security, long-term maintainability, and performance, all aligned with the target architecture strategy of BI teams and the Data Office.
  • Ensure solutions comply with industry standards and best practices for MLOps, including data management, production code standards, and Service Level Agreement (SLA) adherence.
  • Collaborate with BI architects on data projects involving complex issues or high-level business objectives, and lead the design of ML model solutions to ensure project outcomes meet business objectives.

How You Shine:

  • You apply your innovative spirit to improving operational efficiency and have the ability to influence change, prioritizing client needs.
  • You demonstrate critical thinking to recognize assumptions, evaluate arguments, draw conclusions, and proactively propose solutions.
  • You possess strong communication skills to clearly convey messages and explore different perspectives.
  • You build trusting relationships and advise colleagues in a way that fosters their development.

To Join Our Team:

  • You have 10 years of experience in ML engineering, data engineering/integration, or a related field.
  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • You have experience managing others to solve complex problems using analytical thinking, tools, and your judgment to find innovative solutions.
  • You understand the insurance domain and have experience working with Policy Center data.
  • You have excellent knowledge and understanding of data analysis, programming, modeling techniques, data warehousing, data management, research, architecture, and design.
  • Experience with technologies in the following environments is required: SQL, Python, Synapse, Databricks, and Azure Data Factory.
  • The person in this role works primarily with non-French speaking groups and teams outside of Quebec. Proficiency in English is therefore mandatory. Essential tasks requiring knowledge of a language other than French cannot be reassigned to other team members.

What You Need to Know:

  • If your application is successful, your background will be verified as a condition of employment.

How You Benefit:

  • Training and development opportunities to build your career.
  • Flexible work hours and paid time off to meet your personal and family needs.
  • A comprehensive approach to your well-being, including physical and mental health programs and a supportive workplace culture.
  • Paid volunteer days to give back to your community.
  • In addition to our competitive salaries and incentive programs, eligible employees benefit from a comprehensive total rewards program including group retirement savings plans, group insurance (e.g., medical and dental, wellness, disability, life), mental health support, and an employee assistance program.

Expected Salary Range: $104,717 to $154,700+

The salary for the successful candidate will be determined by Co-operators, at its discretion, and will vary based on several criteria, including local market conditions, geographic region, and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, abilities, experience, and education.
