The Resident Engineer - Newbury, UK role offers advanced post-sales technical support across Ciena’s optical transport and network management product lines. The role involves on-site and remote support and technical troubleshooting on products such as 6500, RLS, Waveserver, and MCP.

How You Will Contribute

• Act as the primary technical contact for customer support.
• Troubleshoot complex system-level issues and recommend network solutions.
• Create and review customer documentation including MOPs and RCAs.
• Conduct network audits and health checks.
• Collaborate with development, service, and sales teams.
• Occasional travel based on customer requirements.

The Must Haves

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 2–5 years technical support experience, preferably in telecom equipment.
• Expertise in DWDM, ROADM, OTN, Broadband, Photonics, and switching/transport technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Ciena platforms and network management solutions.
• Proficiency in troubleshooting complex fiber optic system-level issues.
• Experience with Python scripting or similar for automation.

• Strong documentation skills including producing RCAs and MOPs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and solve critical network issues.
