Licensed Vocational Nurse - PM Shift
Bel Vista Healthcare Center is seeking a dedicated Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team for the PM shift. This role is crucial in providing direct nursing care to residents and supervising nursing assistants to ensure the highest quality of care is maintained at all times, in accordance with federal, state, and local standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Supervise and direct the day-to-day functions of nursing assistants.
- Ensure compliance with facility policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in the development and implementation of the facility's quality assurance program.
- Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as required.
- Complete accident/incident reports and other necessary medical forms and documentation.
- Maintain resident charts, including admission, transfer, and discharge records.
- Transcribe physician's orders and chart nurses' notes accurately and descriptively.
- Prepare and administer medications as ordered by the physician, verifying resident identity.
- Maintain accurate narcotic records and report any discrepancies.
- Participate in employee performance evaluations and recommend staffing needs.
- Provide leadership and supervision to nursing personnel on the assigned unit/shift.
- Conduct daily rounds to ensure nursing standards are met and report problem areas.
- Ensure direct nursing care is provided by qualified licensed nurses and certified nursing assistants.
- Administer professional services such as catheterization, tube feedings, wound care, and specimen collection.
- Participate in staff development, including in-service training and orientation programs.
- Monitor personnel to ensure adherence to safety regulations and infection control procedures.
- Maintain a clean and sanitary work environment and resident care areas.
- Recommend equipment and supply needs and ensure adequate stock levels.
- Review care plans daily and ensure they are being followed.
- Assist in the planning, scheduling, and revising of MDS assessments.
Qualifications
- Graduation from an accredited college or university or an approved LPN/LVN program.
- Current, unencumbered, active license to practice as an LPN/LVN in this state.
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
- Proficiency in applying mathematical concepts to practical situations.
- Ability to provide age-appropriate care and demonstrate knowledge of nursing practices.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse individuals.
- Leadership and supervisory abilities.
- Patience, tact, and a positive attitude.
- Current CPR certification.
- Knowledge and experience with PCC is preferred.
Physical Demands
- Ability to move intermittently, speak, write, see, and hear.
- Ability to cope with mental and emotional stress.
- Ability to push, pull, move, and/or lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
- Ability to assist in resident evacuation during emergencies.
