About this role

As a Senior Outside Plant (OSP) Maintenance Technician at GFiber, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of the physical plant in the Distribution Network. Your daily tasks will include troubleshooting network connectivity issues, managing relationships with vendors, and ensuring high-quality customer service while working on both aerial and underground cable installations. What you need

  • 5 years experience in Fiber to the Home (FTTH)/Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) network construction and/or fiber network deployments
  • 3 years of experience in fiber splicing for both termination and midspan use cases, optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) and Power Meter fiber optic testing
  • 3 years of experience managing relationships with contractors and vendors
  • Experience with physical layer components of networking infrastructure, including twisted pair copper cabling, 66 blocks, 110 blocks, patch panels, fiber optic cabling
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs of equipment as required

Nice to have

  • Experience interfacing with local pole owners and utility companies
  • 3 years of experience with fiber to the business-to-business (B2B)/Enterprise level fiber network construction/operations
  • Experience troubleshooting Ethernet network issues related to routers, switches and hubs
  • Experience with rack and stack work, assembling server stanchions, telemetry closet work, and patch panels
  • Ability to safely operate bucket vehicles that elevate up to 25 feet above ground
