About this role
As a Senior Outside Plant (OSP) Maintenance Technician at GFiber, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of the physical plant in the Distribution Network. What you need
- 5 years experience in Fiber to the Home (FTTH)/Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) network construction and/or fiber network deployments
- 3 years of experience in fiber splicing for both termination and midspan use cases, optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR) and Power Meter fiber optic testing
- 3 years of experience managing relationships with contractors and vendors
- Experience with physical layer components of networking infrastructure, including twisted pair copper cabling, 66 blocks, 110 blocks, patch panels, fiber optic cabling
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to lift/move up to 50lbs of equipment as required
Nice to have
- Experience interfacing with local pole owners and utility companies
- 3 years of experience with fiber to the business-to-business (B2B)/Enterprise level fiber network construction/operations
- Experience troubleshooting Ethernet network issues related to routers, switches and hubs
- Experience with rack and stack work, assembling server stanchions, telemetry closet work, and patch panels
- Ability to safely operate bucket vehicles that elevate up to 25 feet above ground
