About the role
About the Role
Support exceptional customer experiences by preparing customer orders for delivery and pickup. Shoppers prepare orders for everyday goods including produce, meat, dairy, household items, prepared foods, specialty cheeses, wine, and beer. This role requires schedule flexibility to work peak hours including weekends (Saturdays and Sundays), early mornings, midday, and evenings, holidays and peak holiday seasons (November through January). Schedules are issued 14 days in advance, and the average shift length is 4-8 hours.
As an In-Store Shopper, you’ll work on the Customer Service & E-Commerce teams supporting and preparing customer orders for delivery and/or pickup. While our offerings will continue to evolve, you’ll shop throughout our store for everyday goods including produce, meat, dairy, household items, prepared foods, specialty cheeses, wine, beer and more. Having a flexible schedule is key to meeting our customers’ needs. We especially need Team Members who can work on Saturday and Sunday – our busiest times of the week! Shoppers with the ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays are preferred.
Job Responsibilities
- Fulfills online orders efficiently, accurately and with a sense of urgency using handheld technology and/or fixed devices.
- Ensures product and order accuracy through meticulous verification and quality control processes.
- Learns and applies product knowledge, customer service standards, and store operations to deliver exceptional customer experiences.
- Keeps staging area organized and free of clutter.
- Handles in-store and online order returns and pickups.
- Complies with government regulations such as age verification requirements for restricted items.
- Assists with customer inquiries and provides store information.
- Maintains knowledge of product and promotional events.
- Maintains a positive work environment.
- Communicates clearly, collaboratively, and courteously.
- Attends all meetings assigned by Leadership, including daily huddles.
- Supports company programs and initiatives, inclusive of varied checkout options, store formats, and all product assortment, tools, and technology.
- Maintains operational standards including but not limited to safety and store security protocols.
- Ensures adherence to all company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned by store or company leadership.

Qualifications
- No prior retail experience required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Sufficient English language proficiency to prepare and shop customer orders.
- Must be 18+ years old.
Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
- Stand/walk for 4-8 hours per shift.
- Lift up to 50 pounds.
- Work in various temperature environments (freezer to 90°F).
- Perform tasks in outdoor and indoor environments.
- Perform repeated motions: bending, reaching, grasping, twisting, squatting.
- Operate standard retail equipment safely.
- Exposure to FDA approved cleaning chemicals.
- May require use of ladders and other E-Commerce equipment.
Compensation & Benefits
The wage range for this position is $18.00-$25.40 Hourly, commensurate with experience. Whole Foods Market offers "Whole Benefits". New entry level Team Members who successfully complete their first 90-days of employment and who remain actively employed in an eligible role, may be eligible for a base rate increase after their 90-day anniversary.
