Job Summary
USI Insurance Services is seeking a motivated Employee Benefit Account Manager to manage and retain a book of assigned small employee benefits accounts, serving as the primary day-to-day contact for clients. This role requires independent servicing of a high volume of accounts, utilizing carrier websites and online rating systems to provide proactive, personalized support. You will act as the main liaison between clients and insurance carriers, offering insurance technical expertise and educating clients on compliance topics such as ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, 5500s, and Health Care Reform.
Responsibilities
- Independently service a high volume of employee benefits accounts.
- Utilize carrier websites and online rating systems for account management.
- Provide proactive, personalized support and act as the primary contact between clients and insurance carriers.
- Offer insurance technical expertise and educate clients on compliance topics (ERISA, COBRA, FMLA, 5500s, Health Care Reform).
- Respond to client inquiries, requests for information, and documents.
- Manage the renewal process, including contractual changes, and communicate placement details.
- Handle the marketing and placement process for new benefit product offerings, analyzing and comparing carrier quotes.
- Coordinate client communications via email, phone, and virtual meetings.
- Develop employee communications for benefit changes and enrollment procedures.
- Introduce clients to USI Benefit Resource Center for support and other USI value-add services.
- Maintain high accuracy in agency management and document management systems, ensuring client deliverable standards are met.
- Participate in peer review with team members and stay current with industry information, technology, and trends.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- 3-5 years of experience in the employee benefits industry or related marketplace.
- College degree preferred.
- Customer service experience preferred.
- Must hold or be willing to obtain a life and disability insurance license.
- Proficiency with internet-based programs and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong ability to set priorities, manage deadlines, and work in a fast-paced team environment with minimal instruction.
- Capacity to handle complex tasks with multiple variables.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify problems and generate solutions.
