- Responsible for capacity management within a defined planning center operating area.
- Oversee market growth in conjunction with LOB and ensure customer expectations are met.
- Provide leadership and identify development opportunities for planning personnel.
- Oversee designated group of planners, ensuring they develop plans adhering to Standard Operating Procedures.
- Routinely review plans and provide appropriate feedback and coaching to planners.
- Oversee training on decision support tools and train planners on customer bid analysis.
- Proactively review current capacity and coordinate network needs with other Planning Leaders to identify opportunities and optimize utilization.
- Determine customer priority and direct planning execution accordingly.
- Monitor outbound freight and identify potential service issues.
- Manage exceptions and collaborate with internal departments to provide resolutions and execute service improvements.
- Maintain a positive work atmosphere and proactively assist others in achieving organizational objectives.
Qualifications
- 4+ years of experience as a planner in the transportation industry required.
- Previous leadership experience required.
- Must be able to lead, develop, coach, and effectively transfer knowledge to others.
- Must be able to understand financial reports.
- Must be able to effectively utilize available technologies (e.g., Micromap, Tableau).
- Bachelor's degree in Business or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
