Graphic Artist
SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, is seeking a talented Graphic Artist to join our team. If you have a passion for design, excel at using templates and workflows to create graphics and assets for marketing and promotions, and want to support researchers and scientists advancing light-based technologies, this is the opportunity for you. About the Role
This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, non-exempt position with flexible work hours. You will be responsible for developing and designing effective artwork, performing layout and composition, editing and proofreading, and producing accurate production/printer files for promotional pieces in both print and electronic formats. You will manage multiple projects with competing deadlines and work closely with the Marketing team, focusing on interactive and digital marketing, print, web, and special projects.
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in graphic arts, communications, marketing communications, or related field, or equivalent, relevant professional experience.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in publishing, a design studio, or a prepress operation.
- Desktop publishing experience is required.
- Experience with Apple computers and Adobe Creative Suite software, and basic file management is required.
- College-level science courses are desirable.
- Experience with pre-press separation software is desirable.
Compensation and Benefits
- Competitive wages with an annual discretionary bonus.
- Pay range: $29.53/hr to $44.32/hr, depending on experience.

- Defined retirement contribution: SPIE provides an automatic 5% contribution plus up to 5% matching contributions, with 25% vesting each year (100% vested after 4 years).
- Paid Time Off plan begins at 31 days per year.
