This role focuses on accelerating the developer experience by leading the evolution of Go and Java frameworks, managing a Slackbot Platform for AI-powered customer support, and overseeing tools that reduce operational overhead and automate the game development 'inner loop'. The goal is to enable Riot engineers to focus on building games by providing essential core building blocks and a cohesive experience across global teams.
Responsibilities
- Lead and Mentor: Manage a team of engineers, guiding career growth, performing code reviews, and fostering technical excellence and psychological safety.
- Own the Roadmap: Define the vision for internal frameworks and automation tools, ensuring they meet customer needs and remain compliant.
- Drive Operational Excellence: Ensure team offerings are highly available and supported, maintaining high standards for documentation and developer self-service.
- Technical Stewardship: Contribute to architectural discussions, ensuring seamless integration of frameworks with other core Riot technologies.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years of software engineering experience (backend services, frameworks, or developer tooling).
- 1+ years of experience as a people manager in an agile environment.
- Professional proficiency in Go or Java.
- Experience building and maintaining shared libraries or platforms for large engineering organizations.
- A 'product mindset' for internal tools, valuing developer ergonomics and documentation.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with AI/LLM integrations or building conversational interfaces (Slack/Discord platforms).
