Associate Product Manager
NBCUniversal, a global leader in media and entertainment, is seeking an Associate Product Manager to join its Enterprise Product Team. This role is instrumental in building products that support essential organizational capabilities across the company, including content management, data and analytics, scheduling and distribution, and content sales.
About the Role
As an Associate Product Manager, you will manage several products within your department, acting as the primary point of contact for clients. You will oversee product development progress, deliverables, and timelines, lead grooming sessions, and conduct product demos. You are expected to be an expert in your product area and serve as a consultant for new multi-product initiatives, mentoring Product Specialists.
Essential Responsibilities
- Product Lifecycle Management: Manage the entire product lifecycle from ideation to optimization, defining product vision, strategy, and success metrics for key initiatives like data warehouse and business intelligence platforms.
- Roadmap & Backlog Ownership: Develop and maintain feature roadmaps, prioritize capabilities based on business needs, and lead grooming sessions for a well-defined backlog. Document product features and user stories in JIRA with clear acceptance criteria.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Requirements Gathering: Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Engineering, Ad Sales, Programming, Operations, Product, Architecture) to gather requirements, define data needs, and align priorities. Translate complex business needs into actionable product features and conceptual models.
- Technical Collaboration & Solution Design: Partner with architecture and solutions leaders to identify optimal technical solutions. Work closely with engineering teams and vendors for automation and workflow optimizations.
- Data-Driven Product Development: Conduct hands-on data exploration and analysis to inform product decisions and enable data-driven features. Use business insights and analytics to refine platform strategy and solve high-impact problems.
- Quality Assurance & Compliance: Define and execute user acceptance testing, ensuring adherence to NBCUniversal standards and industry regulations.
- Incident & Change Management: Coordinate prompt resolution of operational issues and manage change requests to maintain system stability.
- Reporting & Analytics: Track vendor performance metrics and provide insights to improve service quality and efficiency.
- Documentation & Governance: Maintain comprehensive documentation and ensure compliance with internal standards and regulations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 3+ years of relevant work experience in technology or media.
- 2+ years of product management experience in media, including client requirements gathering, technical specifications, working with development teams, roadmap management, and launches.
- 2+ years of direct client engagement experience.
- 2+ years of experience demonstrating strong technical, quantitative, and analytical skills.
- 2+ years of experience exhibiting excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Experience with Agile methodology is desired.
- Experience with Jira or similar systems is desired.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to influence and collaborate with senior stakeholders.
Additional Requirements
- This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of four days per week in the office.
- Must have unrestricted employment authorization in the US.
- Must be 18 years or older.
- Must be willing to submit to a background investigation.
