Team Overview
Klaviyo operates a real-time data analytics platform primarily in Python, built for massive scale and hosted on AWS. The Data Automation team builds tooling, establishes best practices, and makes technology choices to enable the Data Platform area to power core Klaviyo functionality and generate data-driven insights.As a founding member on the Data Automation team, you will define the technical and organizational vision. You will lead the team to design and build systems that operate our mission-critical analytics infrastructure.

- Build and manage a team of 7+ engineers to fulfill your data automation vision and roadmap.
- Coach engineers, manage/review technical documentation, and articulate a phased approach to achieving the team's technical vision.
- Oversee the mission, technical direction, and operations of projects with immediate impact.
- Own frameworks for provisioning, updating, testing, monitoring, and scaling infrastructure for features relied upon by 183,000+ customers daily.
- Optimize infrastructure with teams owning Klaviyo’s analytics system, providing insights on hundreds of terabytes of data.
- Transform workflows by integrating AI, building smarter systems and ways of working from the ground up.
Required Skills
- BA or BS Degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience in a DevOps environment with specific experience in data processing systems.
- 3+ years of people management experience.
- Hands-on experience designing, building, and operating reliable, fault-tolerant, high-performance distributed systems.
- Ability to handle outage situations and drive failures to root cause analysis and prevention.
- Experience writing code using best practices in languages such as Python, Ruby, Go, etc.
- Experience experimenting with AI in work or personal projects, eager to learn fast and explore new AI tools responsibly.
- Proven ability to come up to speed quickly.
- Hybrid office work 3x/week from our Boston office.

Our salary range reflects the cost of labor across various U.S. geographic markets. The range displayed reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all our US locations. Base salary is determined by factors including job-related skills, relevant experience, education or training, and work location. In addition to base salary, our total compensation package may include participation in the company’s annual cash bonus plan, variable compensation (OTE) for sales and customer success roles, equity, sign-on payments, and a comprehensive range of health, welfare, and wellbeing benefits. This role may require up to 10% travel for purposes such as new hire onboarding, client or partner work, team meetings, and industry events. Travel is coordinated in advance.
