About Intertek's Building and Construction Division
Intertek's Building and Construction division consists of industry-leading brands providing innovative product and project solutions across architecture, engineering, and construction disciplines. We offer risk management, quality assurance, and consulting services to ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of new developments, existing assets, and facilities. Our Building Science Solutions (BSS) group specializes in building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and field performance testing for both new construction and retrofit projects.
What We're Looking For:
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background and keen interest in building enclosure consulting for new and existing buildings. You should also be motivated to lead project teams, develop a client base, grow the local BSS team and business, and contribute technically to our overall success. This role involves full project responsibility, including team management, staff mentorship, client relationship building, business development, and review of technical deliverables.
Shift and Travel:
- Monday – Friday, 8 AM – 6 PM
- This position requires up to 25% travel outside the local area, depending on project load.
Salary & Benefits:
The base wage or salary range for this position is $115,000 - $140,000, with eligibility for bonuses. Individual compensation is based on skills, experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors. What You'll Do:
- Lead building enclosure commissioning projects and train staff on BECx processes.
- Provide building enclosure consulting, commissioning, and design/construction phase services for new buildings.
- Conduct building enclosure investigations and assessments for existing buildings, including remedial repair designs.
- Prepare proposals for new work and assist in meeting profit center financial goals.
- Prepare professionally written deliverables, including proposals, technical reports, and design reviews.
- Provide on-the-job training and mentoring to team members.
- Assist in hiring and training new building sciences team members and mentor existing staff.
- Support the department manager in business development and client acquisition locally and assist with larger national pursuits.
- Contribute to growing the local BSS office by balancing staff workloads and securing new business to ensure adequate staff utilization.
- Participate in professional organizations, author papers, attend conferences, and serve on technical committees.

Minimum Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Engineering, or Architectural Engineering with 7+ years of experience in Building Enclosure consulting/industry.
- OR 10+ years of experience in Building Enclosure consulting/industry in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
- Excellent technical understanding of building enclosure systems and construction.
- Experience managing a range of small to large projects.
- Building Enclosure Project management experience.
- Ability to perform office tasks and physical labor (e.g., work from ladders, lifts, scaffolds, roofs).
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Strong technical writing and communication skills.
- Consistent and professional client and project team interaction.
- Ability to travel up to 25% outside the local area.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Report.
Preferred Requirements & Qualifications:
- Building enclosure commissioning experience and proficiency.
- Professional registration or eligibility to obtain within one year (e.g., AIA, NCARB, SE, PE).
- Field and technical experience with diverse building types and enclosure systems.
- Additional registration or certification (e.g., CBECxP, CxA+BE, BECxP, REWC, RRC) or ability to obtain within one year.
- Proficiency in computer modeling tools like THERM, WUFI, EnergyPlus, COMcheck.
- Building enclosure testing experience (functional performance and investigative testing).
- Property/façade condition assessments.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam.
- AutoCAD/Revit/BIM/Sketch-up proficiency.
- Safety Training/Scaffold Certification.
