Field Account Manager
HD Supply is seeking a motivated and results-oriented Field Account Manager to join our dynamic sales team. This role is responsible for exceeding sales and profit targets within a designated territory by implementing strategic sales and marketing programs. You will drive growth by identifying and securing profitable new accounts through diligent industry research, active networking, and proactive prospecting. A significant aspect of this role involves consistent use of a company or personal vehicle, exceeding 50% of the average work week. An acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) report is a requirement for this position.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
- Manage sales and customer retention initiatives to improve sales performance, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Plan, forecast, and report on sales activities and competitive pricing tactics.
- Develop a strategic sales call schedule and conduct face-to-face customer visits.
- Identify vital opportunities, promote value-added solutions, and effectively navigate objections.
- Develop and maintain a pipeline of qualified accounts to meet or exceed sales and margin plans using a CRM tool.
- Focus on new account opportunities through effective cold call strategies to drive territory growth.
- Implement approved sales strategies to achieve targeted sales outcomes and build strong customer relationships.
- Maintain industry-specific product knowledge and a deep understanding of specialized services.
- Utilize Salesforce reporting and data analysis to identify sales and revenue growth opportunities.
- Review customer portfolios to identify and address underperforming accounts.
- Collaborate with inside sales to support business growth and development.
Nature and Scope
This role requires strong problem-solving skills to creatively address complex situations and challenges. You will troubleshoot and resolve intricate problems, making decisions under uncertainty with potentially incomplete information to achieve effective results. The Field Account Manager will independently perform assignments with limited instruction, determining and developing their approach to solutions. Guidance will be provided on complex issues. While not having direct hiring or firing authority, this role may involve overseeing project completion, including planning, monitoring progress, and evaluating results, and contributing to employee professional development.
Work Environment
This position is primarily located in a comfortable indoor setting with infrequent and non-objectionable unpleasant conditions. The role involves significant sitting with frequent opportunities to move around. Occasional need for moving or lifting light articles may arise. Overnight travel is required less than 10% of the time.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field is preferred.
- Business-to-Business sales experience, including Consultative or Solution-Based Selling techniques.
- Proficiency with Salesforce.
- Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline with 5-8 years of experience in a related field, OR MS/MA with 3-5 years of experience.
