Engineering Operations Manager - Gaylor Electric, Inc.
Gaylor Electric is seeking a dynamic Engineering Operations Manager to spearhead critical aspects of project design, coordination, and execution. This role is central to operations, influencing project delivery from preconstruction through installation. You will lead teams, drive strategy, and ensure designs are accurate, buildable, efficient, and competitive.
This is a high-impact role working on complex projects ($1M–$600M) across mission-critical, manufacturing, healthcare, and large-scale commercial construction. You will partner directly with operations, field leadership, and clients to ensure their success.
What You’ll Own
- Build & Lead a High-Performance Engineering Team: Lead, mentor, and elevate a team of Design Engineers and Virtual Designers. Shape the team's structure, performance, and future. Drive recruiting, onboarding, and development of top talent. Create a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous improvement.
- Drive Project Success from Day One: Own engineering execution across multiple projects during preconstruction and design. Ensure designs are constructible, coordinated, and aligned with field execution. Serve as the technical leader for solving complex electrical challenges. Keep projects on schedule, within budget, and aligned with client expectations.
- Lead the Future of Electrical Design (BIM & Virtual Design): Drive the use of BIM and Virtual Design across projects, focusing on excellence. Lead coordination with GCs, architects, and trade partners to solve real-world installation challenges. Oversee the delivery of installation-ready drawings and coordinated models. Push innovation, standardization, and smarter design/build methods.
- Partner with Operations & Clients: Act as the liaison between engineering, field operations, and customers. Influence strategy, solve problems early, and maintain team alignment. Lead design discussions and represent engineering at a high level. Provide ongoing technical support to field teams.
- Impact the Business: Influence cost, schedule, and quality through informed design decisions. Identify value engineering opportunities to enhance competitiveness. Review scopes, contracts, and specs to mitigate risk and improve execution. Play a key role in achieving regional performance and delivery targets.
What Sets You Up to Win
- Background in electrical construction, engineering, or VDC/BIM leadership.
- Experience leading teams within an electrical contractor or similar environment.
- Strong understanding of constructability, beyond just design theory.
- Experience supporting Design-Build, Design Assist, or Plan/Spec work.
Technical Foundation
- Solid understanding of NEC and working knowledge of major building codes.
- Hands-on experience with tools like Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and Autodesk Construction Cloud.
- Ability to lead design reviews, coordination efforts, and technical discussions.

- Background as a Superintendent, MEP Coordinator, or Electrical Supervisor.
- Journeyman Electrician license (a plus, not required).
