Job Summary
Are you a self-directed, talented gameplay animator with production experience using Unreal Engine to create amazing gameplay experiences? Demiurge Studios is seeking a mid- to senior-level 3D Gameplay Animator to contribute to an original open-world IP from early production through launch. If you are passionate about beautiful animation, great gameplay, and defining the animation style for a new game, this role is for you. We value team players with excellent communication, accountability, and a collaborative spirit.
Responsibilities
- Support and innovate solutions to improve gameplay readability, storytelling, and design mechanics through animation, with lean direction and support.
- Author and implement key-frame animation for characters, creatures, and other assets with a gameplay-first focus.
- Rapidly prototype and iterate on animations to achieve the perfect gameplay feel.
- Champion Character, Controls, and Camera principles, applying them to both 1st and 3rd person views.
- Create and maintain animation workflows, pipelines, and processes for first and/or third-person action games (preferably shooters) using Maya/Max/MotionBuilder, and implement them in Unreal Engine.
- Document animation techniques and processes.
- Share techniques and mentor other team members.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of game industry employment and at least 1+ shipped titles.
- Experience setting up character and facial rigging.
- Unreal Engine expertise including anim blueprints, montages, and overall animation workflow.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Eagerness to explore new tools and technologies, such as local mo-cap and the latest Unreal Engine features.
- Self-starter with an entrepreneurial mindset, able to operate in an agile, fast-paced, and sometimes ambiguous environment.
- A portfolio showcasing your work is required.
