Registered Nurse ECT - Electroconvulsive Therapy Nurse
Cross Creek Hospital, in partnership with Ascension Seton, is seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for their Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) department. This is a Monday through Friday position with hours from 7 am to 3 pm, offering no weekend work.
Purpose Statement
The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive pre and post-treatment care for patients undergoing ECT. This role involves assisting medical staff during therapy administration and delivering nursing care with a positive, empathetic, and professional attitude, always prioritizing patient safety.
Essential Functions
- Educate patients and their families about the ECT procedure, ensuring comprehension.
- Collaborate with the treatment team for pre-treatment assessments, treatment monitoring, and post-anesthesia recovery.
- Contribute to the development and evaluation of nursing practices within the ECT Suite and clinical setting.
- Identify actual and potential health issues, functional status, and safety concerns using various data sources.
- Communicate patient condition updates and care needs effectively with the treatment team.
- Establish a therapeutic relationship with patients, monitoring cardiac and respiratory status via pulse oximetry, oxygen saturation, and EKG throughout treatment and recovery.
- Ensure safe, accurate, and timely monitoring of patient vitals, promoting interventions for the safest recovery.
Licenses/Designations/Certifications
- Current RN License as required by state.
- Current ACLS certification.
- Current IV Certification required.
- CPR and de-escalation and restraint certification required (training provided).
- First aid certification may be required.
