About this role

As a Public Works Engineer at BGE, Inc., you will support the planning, analysis, and design of municipal water and wastewater infrastructure projects. Your day-to-day tasks will include preparing engineering calculations, technical reports, construction plans, and permit submissions, as well as performing hydraulic modeling and developing construction-ready drawings. You will also coordinate with various stakeholders and provide construction phase support while mentoring junior staff and contributing to project management efforts.

What you need

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or a related engineering field
  • 5-7 years of progressive civil engineering experience with an emphasis on municipal water and/or wastewater infrastructure design
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification
  • Hands-on experience preparing plans, specifications, estimates, design calculations, technical reports, and construction documents for water/wastewater projects
  • Working knowledge of water distribution, wastewater collection, lift station, pump station, pipeline, force main, and/or treatment-related design concepts
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Civil 3D

Nice to have

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas or ability/desire to obtain PE licensure
  • Experience with hydraulic modeling software such as WaterGEMS, WaterCAD, InfoWater, SewerGEMS, or comparable platforms
  • Experience with MicroStation
  • Familiarity with public agency standards, permitting requirements, and regulatory considerations related to water and wastewater systems
