What you need
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Therapy from an AMTA-approved program or Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field with substantial equivalent experience
- Experience providing music therapy services to children and/or adolescents with disabilities in a school or clinical setting
- Proficiency in at least one instrument and broad musical knowledge across genres and styles
- Experience or comfort working with AAC systems and students with complex communication needs
- Familiarity with IEP processes, related service documentation, and special education law (IDEA)
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation for multi-campus travel
Nice to have
- Board Certification in Music Therapy (MT-BC) issued by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT)
- Connecticut licensure as a Music Therapist, or eligibility to obtain licensure through the CT Department of Public Health
- Connecticut teaching certification in Music, or eligibility for certification
- Strong working knowledge of adaptive music strategies and differentiated instruction for diverse learners
- Familiarity with trauma-informed and positive behavior support practices and strong interpersonal and collaborative communication skills
